Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 August 2026
This policy explains what SaleOn POS does with information — your shop's, your staff's and your customers'. It is written to match how the software actually works, not in general terms.
The software is provided by SaleOn POS ("we", "us"), Pakistan. "You" means the business that licenses the software.
The most important thing to understand: SaleOn POS comes in two editions, and they differ completely in where your data lives. On a Local installation your shop's data stays on your own computer and we do not hold it. On a Cloud installation your data is stored on our servers. Everything below depends on which you have — your Settings screen tells you.
1. Local edition — data stays on your computer
On a Local installation your shop's database runs on your own machine. Products, sales, invoices, customers, staff, stock, expenses and takings are written to that computer and nowhere else. We cannot read them, and our systems never write to your database.
What does leave your computer
Only the following, and nothing else:
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your licence key and a device fingerprint | At activation, and at each check-in (about every two hours; more often if the shop cannot sell) | To confirm the licence is valid and tied to your machine |
| Your operating system and computer name | At activation only | So you can recognise your own tills in the device list |
| An encrypted copy of your database | Only if you have bought Cloud Backup, on the schedule you chose | To restore your shop if the computer is lost or fails |
| Messages you type in Support Chat | When you send them | So we can answer you |
| Confirmation that a support change was applied | Only after you approve it on the till | So our record matches your shop |
Sales, customers, prices, stock and takings are not sent to us on a Local installation, except inside a Cloud Backup if you have bought that add-on.
2. Cloud edition — data is stored with us
On a Cloud installation your shop's data is held in our database so it can be reached from more than one place: products, prices, stock, sales and invoices, payments, customers and what they owe, suppliers and purchases, expenses, staff accounts, shifts and register sessions.
Each business's data is separated at the database level, and our software refuses queries that are not scoped to a single business.
3. What the software records about people
Your customers
Only what your staff type in: a name, optionally a phone number, and the trading history that follows — how many orders, how much was spent, what is still owed (udhaar), and when they last bought. Nothing is collected automatically. If you sell to walk-in customers without recording them, nothing about them is stored beyond the sale itself.
Your staff
A name, a username, optionally an email address, the role you assign, and a password stored only as a cryptographic hash — never in readable form. Shift and commission records where you use those features.
The unlock PIN for a till is kept only on that device, salted and hashed. It never reaches us and cannot be read off our systems.
Payment cards
SaleOn POS contains no payment gateway and processes no card payments. Recording a sale as "card" records that a payment happened elsewhere, on your own card machine. No card number, expiry or PIN is ever entered into, transmitted by, or stored in this software.
4. Cloud Backup
Cloud Backup is an optional paid add-on, off unless you have bought it. When it is on:
- Your own computer copies its database, compresses it and encrypts it before it is sent.
- The encrypted file is uploaded to us and stored. We keep the two most recent copies and delete older ones automatically.
- A restore replaces your database wholesale. It is deliberate, and it is recorded.
If you have not bought Cloud Backup, no copy of your shop's data is ever uploaded. Switching it off stops new copies; copies already held are kept until they age out or you ask us to remove them.
5. Remote support, and the rule that governs it
Our support staff can propose a change to your settings or records — correcting a price or a tax rate you have asked us to fix, for example.
On a Local shop we cannot make that change ourselves. The proposal is collected by your own computer, shown at the till with a plain before-and-after, and written only if someone there taps Apply. Selling, the cash drawer and the shift are excluded entirely — those can never be changed by support at all.
On a Cloud installation the change is applied directly, because we already hold the data.
Support Chat messages are stored so both sides can see the conversation. Do not put payment card details or passwords into a support message.
6. Device information and licensing
Your licence is tied to the machine it was activated on. To do that we store a device fingerprint: a one-way cryptographic hash of an identifier your operating system already provides. It is not a serial number, cannot be reversed into one, and tells us nothing beyond "this is the same computer as before".
We also record when a till last checked in, so we can tell a shop that has stopped trading from one that has simply lost its internet.
7. Who can see your data
- You and your staff, according to the roles and permissions you set.
- Our support staff — for a Cloud shop, the data needed to support you; for a Local shop, only the items in section 1.
- Nobody else. We do not sell your data, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use your trading figures for anything other than providing and supporting the software.
Actions taken by our staff are recorded in an activity log.
8. How long data is kept
- Local shop: as long as you keep it. It is on your computer — we can neither delete nor retrieve it.
- Cloud shop: while your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards so an account closed by mistake can be recovered.
- Cloud Backups: the two most recent copies.
- Support messages and activity logs: kept as a record of what was asked and what was done.
9. Where data is stored
Our servers and stored backups are operated by our hosting providers, and data may be processed outside Pakistan on their infrastructure. We choose providers offering appropriate security for the data concerned.
10. Security
- Passwords are stored only as hashes; we cannot read them.
- Backups are encrypted on your machine before they are sent.
- Till unlock PINs never leave the device.
- A licence is bound to a device, so a copied installation is not usable.
- Access by our staff is limited by role and is logged.
No system is perfectly secure. Give each person their own account, keep passwords private, and remove accounts when people leave.
11. Your choices
- Cloud Backup can be switched off, and copies already held deleted on request.
- Remote support changes can be refused at the till every time, and the sharing setting withdrawn entirely.
- A copy of your data: a Local shop already has it; a Cloud shop can ask us for an export.
- Deletion: ask us and we will delete what we hold, except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons — see Delete Your Account and Data for the steps and the timings.
To make any of these requests, write to support@saleonpos.com from the address on the account, or call +92 312 6457952.
12. Tax records
Where you use SaleOn POS to produce tax invoices, you remain responsible for your own tax registration and the accuracy of what you issue. Records you must retain by law should be kept by you, not relied upon from a backup.
13. Children
SaleOn POS is business software and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 other than as a customer record your staff enter.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change how the software handles data in a way that affects you, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be told to you directly.
